Try your ZIP

See real federal building jobs of $25,000 or more that started near you in the last 90 days: the work, the amount, the builder and where the builder is based.

What you get

Your area first

Jobs near your ZIP come first, then the rest of your state. Jobs that look like your trade lead each group.

Who won, and where they're from

The builder's name and home city, with a badge when they're from another state. A builder far from home is a good reason to call.

What to say

The job in plain words with the record's own words beneath, and a short opener from the job and your trade. You make the call.

A list that keeps score

Mark each builder contacted and each job won. Every Monday, only what's new comes to your inbox.

Monday's email

New jobs in your state, closest first, each with the builder and an opener. This one is built from real Ohio records.

Why it works

Many winners are based far from the job. A builder from another state may want local crews, and the record says who they are.

15 of 40

of the newest federal building jobs we checked in Ohio went to builders based in another state.

USAspending.gov, our count, Oct 31, 2026

One of them: a Wyoming builder won a $405,949 roof job at the Chillicothe, Ohio veterans' hospital. Before, finding that meant searches, downloads and a spreadsheet. Now it's the first line of a roofer's Monday list in southern Ohio.

We don't know whether a builder is looking for subs, and we never say so. We show who won and where they're based.

Before you call

Federal jobs come with rules that follow the sub. Ask the builder before you price the job:

  • Prevailing wages. Federal construction jobs usually set minimum wages by trade and county.
  • Certified payroll. Subs on these jobs usually file weekly certified payroll, whatever the size of their part.
  • Site access. Hospitals, courthouses and airports often check workers before they're let on site.

Questions

Where do these jobs come from?

From USAspending.gov, the public record of federal contracts kept by the US Treasury. We read the new construction and trade jobs in your state and put the closest first. subscout.online is not a government service.

Is the builder looking for subs?

We don't know, and we won't say so. We show who won and where they're based. A builder from another state is a good reason to call.

Do I need to register with the government?

Usually not to work as a sub, because you work for the builder. But wage rules, certified payroll and site access checks can still apply, so ask the builder before you price the job.

How do I reach the builder?

The record gives the company's name and city, not a phone number. We give you a one-tap search for the company and a short opener. You make the call.

Does it cover military bases, states and cities?

Defense jobs can show up months late. State, county and city jobs aren't covered at all. It's federal only: mostly veterans' hospitals, federal buildings, parks and airports.

Which trades does it cover?

Electrical, plumbing, HVAC, roofing, painting, flooring, fire sprinklers and similar. We guess which trades a job needs from its description, and we label it as a guess.

How much is it?

$39 a month. The first 7 days are free and no card is needed. Cancel any time. It's sold to businesses only.
